Fixed! Updated the code to deal with Excel 2016’s new issue with lowercase tab names. Now the tabs will be capitalized per how they are entered as the default tab names in Architect Manager.
Updated! Moved the core quote template file from being a “program” file – PQuote.xlt in the PQuote folder – to being a “data” file called QuoteTemplate.xlt in the PQuote\Data folder, better enabling clients to have a different “look” (fonts, etc.) to their quote files. Please do NOT ever delete this file, as it is required to create the core of all quote files.

New! We’ve added a new email notifications feature that makes it easy to generate and send notification emails to individuals who need to review or approve quotes. If set up properly, the user can be auto-prompted to send an email requesting quote approval that contains a link to the quote file along with a list of the reasons why a quote needs approval. You can also manually send an email notification via the Architect menu under the Approvals sub-menu. To enable the basic functionality, make sure to add “approval” individuals to the Approvals table in Architect Manager. If you’ve already entered individuals into the Approvals table, please make sure to add their email addresses, as this is a brand new field in that table. For more information on setting up this feature, please refer to the “Approvals and Email Notifications” section of Architect Manager’s live help files or user guide PDF.

Fixed: tables containing pricing totals/sub-totals that are pushed from Excel quote files to Word outputs were showing these totals/sub-totals INCLUDING all options. This has been fixed so that the totals/sub-totals EXCLUDE all options. So, if you have any quotes that push Excel tables to Word outputs AND the quotes included optioned items, you will need to re-generate those Word outputs so that the corrected totals/sub-totals are shown in the tables.

New! A new Apply to discountable EQUIPMENT items option has been added to the Goal Seek by line item function that updates the unit sell to your target margin or markup for each and every items belonging to an “Equipment” pricing category, as defined by the “Type” column on the Pricing tab. We’ve also added a “Sell price should not exceed MSRP” checkbox. For more information on this feature – and Goal Seek in general – please view SDA’s in-app help files or view our new 3:04 video.

Collapsible categories have been added, allowing you to suppress items on your schedules of equipment and services that are associated with product categories that your administrator has designated as “collapsible”. For example, instead of showing each and every cable and wire, you might collapse the “Cables and Wires” product category into a single row showing a total price for all cables and wires. You can collapse the product categories by ticking the “Collapse Product Cats” checkbox on the schedule options dialog. For more information on this feature, please view our 1 minute collapsible product categories video.
New! You can update the product category for one or more items within your quote file by highlighting one or more rows (using your Control key along with your mouse to select multiple non-contiguous rows), then selecting Update tab(s), then “Update Product Category for selected rows”.
New! You can update the Element Name for one or more items within your quote file by highlighting one or more rows (using your Control key along with your mouse to select multiple non-contiguous rows), then selecting Update tab(s), then “Update Element Name for selected rows”. Element names are used to associate items within a single quote file with different sites/locations.
We fixed several bugs in the new outputs engine that was introduced last month, including…
- The occasional “copy buffer full” error message that was generated when charts and tables were output from filtered tabs.
- The issue whereby rows that look like parts in the hidden section of a filtered tab were included on schedules of equipment and services.

New! As mentioned above, we’ve added the ability for users to collapse product categories on schedules of equipment and services. In order for them to be able to do that, you will need to designate the product categories that should be collapsible by opening Architect Manager and selecting Categories, Product Categories. You can obtain additional information on this feature by clicking Help while you’re in the Product Categories screen.

Updated! We’ve changed how Avaya One Source (A1S) service terms are consolidated in SDA quote files. In the past, SDA multiplied the quantity by the service term and reflected this on the SDA quote as a modified quantity. The updated logic multiplies the unit MSRP and unit cost by the service term and keeps the quantity the same.

New! CorsPro has re-engineered SalesDoc Architect’s outputs engine from the ground up to enhance the performance when generating outputs, especially for Office 2013 and later. Outputs are generated much more quickly, sometimes over 10 times faster! As part of the new outputs engine, we’ve also added several new features, including …
- Labor and products auto-configured by items marked as optional (to purchase) are now shown in detail by part number rather than lumped into an “associated products/services” line.
- Multi-site and/or multi-element Excel schedule outputs push the data for each site/element to a separate Excel tab.
- Site/element names and footnotes are added as non-table text in Word, for a cleaner look. Also, some items that appeared at the top of the schedule – like the cutover date and “pricing good until” date – have been moved to the bottom of the schedule.
- You are now prompted to designate the primary element to appear first in a schedule output, just like we’ve done in the past when we’ve prompted for the primary quote file.
We’ve added a temporary “Change outputs approach” option under the Update tab(s) menu to allow you to compare the old outputs engine to the new one. We’d love to hear your feedback (via support@corspro.com), including your thoughts on the performance improvement, which is especially evident for complex configurations with lots of sites, elements and/or options. FYI, the enhancements have been made to all Excel output operations; if you’re doing a Word output, the enhancements were done up to the point where the document builder dialog (that inserts doc sections and doc variables) pops up. We will remove the “Change outputs approach” menu option in next month’s release.
New! Have you ever wanted to scroll to the right on an SDA tab to access additional data but were frustrated because you lost track of the items (part numbers and descriptions) associated with the additional data? Now your Architect Manager can set up your tabs to “freeze” a column in the tab so that you’re always able to keep track of the items you’re referencing.

We’ve added the ability to freeze a column in your tabs so that users can scroll to the right while still being able to see key content in the first few columns (e.g., quantity, part number and description). To freeze a column, open up a raw tab and place your cursor in the column (in row 1) that you’d like to freeze, then select the View ribbon, then Freeze Panes, then Freeze Panes.

Critical update for Office 2010 users: with the release of Excel 2010 update KB3178690 from Microsoft, Excel has become unstable and sometimes freezes. Until Microsoft fixes the issue, we have pro-actively “programmed around” the points of instability, and urgently recommend installing this SDA update for Office 2010 users. In addition, several minor SDA bugs were remedied, and the code base has been updated in preparation for the imminent release of the new SDA outputs engine. We highly recommend that you install this update!!
