May, 2010 Updates
SalesDoc Architect Version: 7.039
SalesDoc Architect Release Date: May 17, 2010
SALESDOC ARCHITECT (END-USER) FUNCTIONALITY CHANGES
- New! You can now choose to import pricing/costing from an import file even if pricing/costing exists for the part(s) in your SalesDoc Architect database by clicking the “Get pricing from import file (not database) on next import” checkbox at the top of the Write-In tab. Why is this important? Because it enables you to bring in the latest pricing from vendor configuration tools, overriding what’s in your database. Once pricing/costing has been imported in this fashion, you will not be able to subsequently update it to the pricing/costing in your database by clicking the “Update tab(s)” button; pricing/costing will be frozen at the values that were originally imported. You can set the default for this checkbox for all new quotes in User Setup by checking/unchecking the “Default to get pricing from import file (not database)” checkbox.
- New! You can now override several fields on the Write-In tab for parts that are imported into the Write-In tab and that are found in your database. The fields that you can override are: Product Category, Install Hours, Design Hours, Labor Category and Element Name.
- New! You can now choose whether or not the system discount should be applied against each “options package” group. For example, if the system discount was set to 10% for the core solution and a group of items was added to an options package with “Calc System Discount” unchecked, then the 10% system discount would NOT be applied against the total list price for the options package group. This enables you to capture more profit margin as options are added if you choose not to check “Calc System Discount” for the option groups. You can set the default “Calc System Discount” value in the User Setup by checking/unchecking the “Default to calculate system discount for all options” box.
- New! Title has been added as a field to User Setup and can auto-populate to the Base Info tab when new quotes are created (Note to Architect Managers: to enable this feature, you must add a Title field to the Base Info tab with rangename “SellerTitle” that is linked to a variable named &SELLERTITLE&).
ARCHITECT MANAGER CHANGES
- New! An import function has been added for Jenne’s solution designer configuration tool. Please contact us if you wish to add this to the Import menu for your implementation.
- End user and Architect Manager user guides have been updated and can be found in your PQManager/Manuals folder.
VENDOR CONTENT CHANGES – MITEL/INTER-TEL
- Two new document sections were added:
- Mitel Applications Suite appliance
- Mitel Live Content Suite
- Numerous parts were added and updated. Architect Managers: please run the Parts Master report and sort it by the “Added” and/or “Updated” columns to see what’s been recently added or updated.
VENDOR CONTENT CHANGES – TOSHIBA
- A ToshibaFinancing tab has been added to the Tabs folder containing all required information and calculations for the new ValuePlus rental program. Please note that the calculations contain an assumption regarding ongoing maintenance costs that must be modified by your Architect Manager.
- The import function was modified to include existing items that were configured at no charge by Toshiba’s configuration tool. These items will appear on outputs under the “Existing Equipment Configured at No Charge” heading.
VENDOR CONTENT CHANGES – AVAYA
- Proposal document sections have been added for release 6 of Avaya’s IP Office solution. We also have part/document and part/item associations available for upload into your implementation’s database.
- An import function has been added for Avaya’s EZQuote configuration tool. You should export EZQuote configurations to Excel using the “standard format”. Please contact us if you wish to add this to the Import menu for your implementation.
VENDOR CONTENT CHANGES – SHORETEL
- The import function was modified to allow users to manually add an “Element Name” column to the raw QMS export file that is subsequently imported into SalesDoc Architect. This enables you to designate the elements (usually sites) with which each part should be associated so that you can use SDA’s multi-quote features to consolidate multiple quotes into a single proposal, statement of work or pricing schedule.

SALESDOC ARCHITECT (END-USER) FUNCTIONALITY CHANGES
ARCHITECT MANAGER CHANGES
VENDOR CONTENT CHANGES – MITEL/INTER-TEL
- When Mitel Sales Workbench quotes are imported, the estimated software assurance cost is converted into a part with part number “Mitel SWA”. “MitelSW” is assigned as the PriceCat and “None” as the vendor discount category. This means that a made-up list price will be calculated when it’s imported based on the markup assigned to the “None” vendor discount category in your setup. You can, if you wish, change the PriceCat, vendor discount cat, description, etc., by setting up a “ManualItem” part in your Parts Master for “Mitel SWA”.
- The following parts (and associated proposal/engineering info) have been added:
- SX-200 to MCD Standalone Migration Pkg (p/n 52002591)

VENDOR CONTENT CHANGES – SHORETEL
- Engineering content — including labor hours, UPS requirements and rack requirements — has been added and associated with specific ShoreTel part numbers.
- Associations have been established between ShoreTel proposal document sections and specific ShoreTel part numbers so that proposal document sections are automatically output when specific part numbers are configured.
- Item counts (number of IP sets, etc.) have been added to the top of the ShoreTel doc section selector tab (which is now not really needed since doc sections will be automatically configured based on the ShoreTel part numbers that have been imported). In addition, engineering calculations have been removed from the tab, and selected doc sections will no longer be listed at the top of the schedules of equipment and services.
VENDOR CONTENT CHANGES – TOSHIBA
- Engineering content — including labor hours, UPS requirements and rack requirements — has been added and associated with specific Toshiba part numbers.
- Associations have been established between Toshiba proposal document sections and specific Toshiba part numbers so that proposal document sections are automatically output when specific part numbers are configured.
- Part numbers that end in ” (net)” are now imported into SDA from the Toshiba configuration tool as non-discountable with “None” as the vendor discount category. This means that a made-up list price will be calculated when it’s imported based on the markup assigned to the “None” vendor discount category in your setup.
- Bills of material for Toshiba “package” parts are now being imported as ‘includes’ rows that will show up as non-part numbered rows on schedules of equipment and services.

SALESDOC ARCHITECT (END-USER) FUNCTIONALITY CHANGES
- Fixed issue whereby the Document Builder was creating “Data_[Username]” folders in various places on a user’s hard drive. Once you have installed this update, we suggest that users search for all instances of the “Data_[Username]” folder on your hard drive and delete them if you can confirm that they contain SalesDoc Architect data files.
