SDA Cloud Terms and Definitions

Archived Opportunities – Opportunities with opportunity statuses that have been designated as “archived” by your administrator. These are usually opportunities that have been closed (won or lost) for some period of time.

Client Defined Fields – Custom fields viewable from the opportunity grid, which provide better insight to a company’s opportunities. These can be from named ranges in SDA, selected from quote files.

CRM (Customer Relationship Management) System – An approach to managing a company’s interaction with current and future customers. It often involves using technology to organize, automate, and synchronize sales, marketing, customer service, and technical support.

Grid – The webpage layout viewable via the SDA Cloud application. It displays all information about your opportunity.  By using the drag and drop function, users can arrange data in the order that most appeals to them.

Opportunity – A potential sale to a prospective or current customer.  A sales opportunity may be comprised of one or more quotes and/or one or more implementation sites.  In general, one proposal will be created for a single sales opportunity, regardless of number of sites.

Opportunity ID – A unique system-generated number assigned to an individual opportunity.

Opportunity Rollup Status – This refers to whether a quote file is considered part of the opportunity and therefore the financials of the quote are included in the opportunity totals. If the Roll-up status is “Y” – which is the default – then quote data for the quote file will be included in the sales opportunity totals.

Opportunity Summary – A summary of the opportunity data associated with a quote.  Opportunity data is not part of the SDA quote, but can be viewed from within SDA via the Opportunity Summary menu selection. Some pieces of viewable opportunity data include the Opportunity Name,  Number of Associated Quotes, Projected Close Date, and Close Probability.

Quote –An SDA quote file (Excel .xls file) which contains information on who you are selling to and what you are selling to them. Sometimes a quote file begins by importing a quote configuration created with a distributor’s or manufacturer’s configuration tool. Users complete a quote by including customer contact information and selecting additional pertinent items such as financing options or managed services.   Each quote within SDA has a unique quote naming convention, and a unique Quote ID.

Quote Activity – Revisions and modifications made to an SDA quote file by a person or group. They might include updated contact information, additional equipment in the quote, or a change in the selected financing option.

Site – A single implementation location.  In general, an SDA quote file is created for each implementation site, although you can also create a single SDA quote file containing several sites.

Status/Stage – The particular time in the sales process that a quote is currently in (for example, Proposal, Open, Quoted, Closed Won, Closed Lost.) In SDA Cloud these are defined by the SDA Cloud administrator.
